If You Could Hit Reset Today, What Would You Do Differently?

Birthday Reflections: A Reset in Progress

With my birthday fast approaching, I found myself reflecting. Am I where I want to be? Have I achieved as much as I should have by now? Am I living as the ideal version of myself?

In that moment, I felt conflicted. On one hand, I could see the progress I’ve made. On the other, something still felt like it was missing. Life’s distractions had a way of pulling me in, and I started to wonder—am I even still on track?

Like many of us, as the year drew to a close, the “New Year, New Me” mindset began swirling in my head. One evening, I dedicated some time to myself: I had a long, hot shower, slipped into fresh pajamas, lit a candle, poured ice-cold water into a wine glass (because… vibes), and sat down for a reflective planning session.

I started by reviewing 2024—what went well, what could’ve gone better, and what lessons the year had taught me. Once I’d cleared my mind, I set some goals for the year ahead. But the real question was: How often did I actually look at them afterward?

Fast forward, remembering that I had written them down, I went back to review. What stood out immediately was how vague my goals were—and how little strategy there was behind them. It was mostly bullet points and scattered thoughts. No wonder I got so easily distracted and stayed off course for long periods of time.

With that realisation, I felt inspired to reset—again.

I turned to TikTok for inspiration. Honestly, I didn’t even know what I was looking for, but what I found was a wake-up call. I realised I wasn’t really living—I was just gliding through life. Yes, I had goals, but they felt more like chores than a journey I was meant to enjoy.

Something shifted.

I grabbed my notebook and listed everything: what I want to do, what I love doing, what I’m good at, and what my ideal routines would look like. It felt like I was finally starting to build something meaningful. This wasn’t just another to-do list.

It was the beginning of what I now call my The birthday reset.

This reset isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about reconnecting with the version of ourselves that feels most aligned. The one that’s intentional, present, and purpose-driven.

As this new chapter begins, I’ve found value in slowing down and asking better questions—not just about goals, but about joy, clarity, and balance.

Maybe you’re doing the same. Maybe you’re wondering if you’re on the right track, or just ready to feel more connected to your own vision again.

If that resonates, you’re not alone.
